The theme of the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge this week is Half and Half, or an image that has 2 parts. This challenge was a bit tricky for me. Having a clear dividing line in the composition of my photos is not common. However, when it does occur, it can result in a very interesting and creative photo.
I snapped this photo last Fall during a hiking adventure in Keene, NH. It was a beautiful and crisp late afternoon as we started our trek around Goose Pond. When we noticed a vivid rainbow randomly shining over the water within minutes of our hike, we knew we were in for a good one. Our luck continued, and with every rocky climb and winding turn our surroundings just became more and more stunning.
As we neared the end of the hike, to my delight the subtle evening light finally appeared. Suddenly, every color around us began to glow in a rich, auburn hue. It took my breath away. With the calm wind, the perfect light, and intense natural leaf color, I have never seen a reflection so lovely. A spectacular mirror image . . . and a chance to capture the world clearly divided in two. 🙂
